Q: 2003 chevy venture,i called my self saving time, i did not torqe and sequence my intake?
my bolts will this cause a misfire?

A: It could, by not having the proper "clamping load" on the bolts in the proper order. The gaskets could be cracked by too much load, or loose from not enough; both of which could cause a vacuum leak or warp the manifold. Plus, if the gaskets are cracked from too much load, there could be coolant leaking into the crankcase which will cause catastrophic engine damage. I do at least one intake reseal a week at the dealer where I work, and see the results of improper repairs on a regular basis. The days of the "fix-it-myself" era are gone when it comes to the newer computer module controlled vehicles. It takes special training and special tools to do anything above an oil change anymore, and even the oil changes are going the way of the dinosaur.

Q: Where can I get an *inexpensive* spare tire (wheel AND tire) for a 2003 Chevy Venture WB edition?

A: If you don't want to pay dealer prices, go to or call your local salvage yards. There are several Venture models that match your wheel and tire. If they don't have it in stock they can find it through an internet link with other salvage dealers. Hope this helped.

Q: 2003 chevy venture headlights problem?!?!?!?
Ok, my chevy venture's headlights came out how do i put it back in? its the right one heres how it looks http://www.midoregon.com/images/s_2003_Chevy_Venture_Minivan.jpg its the headlights far right the one with the orange square on it

A: That is the marker/turn signal assembly. It is held in place with fasteners attached to tabs on the backside/underside of the lens. It is possible that the attachment points have broken from the assembly.

Q: 2003 Chevy Venture Wiper problem!?
a friend of mine has a 2003 Chevy Venture for some reason the timing on wiper is wrong when you turn off the wipers they go down and then after go up and stay up they don't block my windsheild they just go at a straight 90 degree angle up. what may be the problem why it stays up and doesnt go down when i turn off my wipers?

A: Actually it's not electrical at all. This is a fairly common issue with the Venture vans. The problem is your wiper motor crank arm. It is a mechanical device that aids in "parking" your wiper blades. It sits on top of your wiper motor and connects the motor to the wiper transmission. When they go bad, it causes the wiper blades to park in the vertical position. Just replace this piece and you'll be all set.

Q: 2003 Chevy Venture - after the battery was changed the speedometer, etc is not working. Unlock code to blame?
We have a 2003 Chevrolet Venture minivan and the battery died today. We had it replaced and now the speedometer, fuel gauge, etc are not working and the radio says "locked." The clock is working although it says the wrong time. I have been told I can take it to a Chevy dealer tomorrow and get an unlock code, but I need to drive to work tomorrow and I don't want to do that without my speedometer, auto headlights, etc... The book says it is a portion of the VIN number and I have the VIN as it is my car, but I don't know what portion. Why did changing the battery disable my speedometer, temp gauge, etc? Is this lock code the root of the problem or is something else wrong? I am desperate and I know NOTHING about cars... Help! :)

A: Changing the battery should not have effected the speedo or fuel guage. It would however require you to enter the lock code for the radio. I would check the fuses, if problem not found there you need to take it to get looked at.

Q: 2003 Chevy Venture ABS and Traction Control Lights?
I have a 2003 Chevy Venture. The ABS light is on and the traction system has shut down. I also get a message telling me to service the traction control system. From what I have read, this could be due to a bad or dirty wheel sensor. I took it to the shop and they hooked it up to their computer. They tell me that it's the control module and will cost big bucks to fix. If this is true, is it even worth having the sensors checked on the vain hope that they are only dirty? Should I get a second opinion? I am leary of the big bill because I already got screwed on one big repair bill this week, and I don't want to get caught again. Thanks! I forgot to add that on 3 different occasions, while taking off from a dead stop at intersections on dry roads, the traction control kicked in. This was approx 1-2 weeks before the lights came on.

A: If what they are saying is true and it is the control module, you can actually get them used rather cheaply online through a service called U Need A Part. Their website is http://www.uneedapart.com, you just make a request and they send it to hundreds of salvage yards throughout the country who in turn respond back with prices. Works very well, be sure to include the part number on the module as these will have to match up for the unit to work in your vehicle.

Q: 2003 Chevy Venture van shift control cable came off. Hard to fix?
I have a 2003 Chevy Venture minivan. Yesterday while driving, I hit a speed bump pretty hard. When I stopped the car at my destination I put the car in park and shut off the vehicle. When I went to leave the car would not start. It appeared that the car was "stuck in reverse". By the way this is an automatic transmission. The shift lever on the column was very loose and it would not switch gears. Upon further inspection and opening the hood, I saw that there is a cable that connect to an arm that switches modes in the transmission. This cable had become disconnected. How does this cable reattach? I can stick my hand down there and place it back on the "post" that its supposed to connect to and get it into gear, but anytime a hit a bump or something it comes back off. I noticed when I push on it, it seems that is a small hole in the housing that attached to the post that appears to almost snap it on but because of it's location I can get enough leverage to pop it on. Big issue? New cable or remove a bunch of parts in may way and pound it on?

A: there should be a clip to hold it on

Q: Does a 2003 Chevy Venture regular mini van retain value or lose value quickly, what is is worth?

A: www.kbb.com is a great website to tell you how much your car is worth. Since they do not make Chevy Ventures anymore and given that all automobiles lose their value quickly I would have to say that the Chevy Venture does not retain its value so good. Most imports like toyota, honda, bmw etc. generally have a higher percentage retaining their value then say a domestic automaker.

Q: Hi, I have a 2003 chevy venture 3.4 LT. I changed intake and plenum gaskets,I know have a missfire that i can?
ive changed injecters, plugs wires and it is still missing on # 4

A: Check all of the wiring and connectors that you disturbed when you worked on the engine. Check the intake and plenum for any vacuum leak(s). If OK........ Do a quick compression check on number 4 - if it's OK, check the wiring carefully on the injector and swap the plug with another cylinder and try it again.

Q: I have 2003 chevy venture 3.4 v6, i was looking for a cold air intake for it,would one from a grand am fit?
If the grand am had a 3.4l or a alero, how hard would it be to mount and get it to work?

A: under the hood of the minivan is TIGHT!!! you may be able to engineer it to fit, but i bet it will suck! i just went and got a stock style "high performance" air filter. unless you're gonna do a bunch of mods, the cold air kit is not worth the extra 200.00 or the aggravation. i drive an aztek (same thing under the body).
