Q: drivers side window off track bigtime need help 2001 chevy venture van?
drivers side window off track 2001 chevy venture need help putting it back on track don't know how this happened please help me get it back on track without breaking it wife would hurt me lol thanks have removed panel and moisture cover lost on next step only thought would be to start by removing plastic harness obstructing further view of window hardware

A: Usually the reason it "falls" off the track is because of a broken slider in the track rail. The regulator arm cams out from the rail, causing the window to tilt out of the track. No way to repair other than replace the window regulator module unit which includes the window regulator, motor (if power window), and radio speaker. Hey, I dont design, build or break them----I just have to fix them.

Q: Maintainance questions for a 2001 Chevy Venture?
At what mileage should transmission fluid be drained and replaced? When should transmission fluid and its filter be drained and replaced? When should front brake pads be replaced? When should rear brake pads/shoes be replaced?

A: I believe the transmission fluid and filter should be changes around 60000 miles. the pads and shoes need to be checked when you have the tires rotated.

Q: fuel gauge problems on 2001 Chevy Venture?
The fuel gauge on my 01 Venture was just fine until I backed out of my garage shut it off and then restarted the van. It was showing about half a tank which was correct and now it shows a full tank when the key is turned on. What might solve this besides a new module? I did pull the fuse and then the gauge just stayed at the empty mark.

A: the ground for the fuel pump may have broken or the hot wire may have broken

Q: fuel sending unit for 2001 chevy venture?
I'm trying to change out the sending unit and fuel pump, when I went to pick one up they asked if the body length was 112" or 120" (they have a pump and sending unit for the 112") turns out the body is 120" can I use the one for the 112"? and what modifications will I need to make?

A: Don't use the one for the short 112 " wheelbase !! Use only the correct 120" unit. The difference is in the fuel tank size between these vehicles. You would never get a correct fuel level reading with the wrong sender/pump assembly.

Q: I have a 2001 chevy venture that won't start. I replaced the starter, but still nothing.?
The engine was just reinstalled becausew the heads were done, and I wired the starter incorrectly, which caused it to short, so I bought a new starter. Now after replacing the old with the new starter, it is just as dead as before

A: normally you have a relay on the fire wall it is a small black melal black box if it is burnt out no fire will get to the starter also make sure your ground wire is hooked up.

Q: has any 1 found a solution to the overheating of a 2001 chevy venture?
i have to bleed valves for it to work properly then after a couple days do it again

A: If you are bleeding the valves then you have an intake gasket leak which is common for these vans with some miles. You will need to take it to a shop. Tell them what its doing and they will know right away what to do.

Q: My 2001 Chevy venture cooling fans are not working?
Recently my cooling fans on my 01 venture quit working. I have tried replacing the relays and checked all main fuses to ensure that none were blown. I was wondering if anyone had any advice in which i can try before taking it to the mechanic's. Any info that can be given would be greatly appreciated.

A: For this you will need ... jumper cables and a length of dual wire cord such as thick speaker wire or an extension cord with both ends cut off. Leave the engine off... 1) Strip both ends of the wire cord and seperate the wires a bit (like a "Y") at both ends. 2) Attach jumper cables to Pos and Neg posts. 3) Attach other end of jumper cables to one end of wire cord. Keep the opposite ends from touching each other. 4) Locate plug on fan wiring harness and unplug. 5) Insert the ends of the wire cord into the fan plug and see if the fan comes on. If not.. you may have the 'poles reversed' so pull the cord out of the plug and re-insert switching the holes each wire goes in. If the fan works.. you have a relay, wiring problem. If it doesn't work.. you have fan problem. Remember that the fans only come on when needed. You can usually "force" the fan(s) on by starting the engine and then turning on the A/C on max. Most cars will turn on the fan to help the A/C work better at idle. Hope this helps!

Q: how do you change a 2001 chevy venture's battery?

A: *** WARNING *** be very careful when messing around with your car's battery. if you accidentally cause a short circuit, the battery can put out several hundred amperes of current, which creates enough heat to probably vaporize whatever metal tool you made the short circuit with, melt the plastic casing of the battery and boil the battery acid. so you will have a metal vapor battery acid bomb exploding in your face - bad, bad news. that makes it sound pretty scary, but i'm just trying to get you to be careful. all you have to do is make sure that you DON'T make any kind of electrical connection between the two terminals on the top of the battery. that means don't let anything conductive like a wrench or screwdriver contact both terminals at the same time. okay? okay. and if you don't feel comfortable with what you're doing, get a professional to do it for you. it's not worth the risk. *** END WARNING *** anyway, it's pretty easy. find the battery under the hood. there will be 2 big metal posts sticking out of the top of the battery, and each post will have a cable bolted to it. one of the cables will be red and have a + and the other will be black and have a -. anyway, get a wrench and loosen the bolts that keep the cables clamped to the battery terminals. you don't have to unscrew them all the way, just loosen them enough so that you can wiggle the cable off the battery. (there might be a lot of corrosion in this area, so you might need quite a bit of force on the wrench to break through the crud) anyway, once the cables are off, push them off to the side and out of the way. not sure about a venture, but in many newer cars there is a bracket that goes over the top of the battery that you'll have to remove too - usually held on with a single bolt or wingnut. anyway, just take the old battery out and put the new one in. then re-attach (the bracket, if necessary, and) the cables in the same positions that you took them off of. (if you're not sure what went where, look at the markings on the battery. one of the terminals will be marked +, so put your red or + cable there, and put the - cable on the - terminal.) re-tighten the bolts on the cable clamps and you're done. take the old battery back to the parts store and get your $5 battery-recycling refund. one other thing you might want to get is some anti-corrosive compound. it's this gooey purple stuff they sell in these little foil packets at parts stores for like a buck. you tear open the packet and smear the gunk all over the battery terminals and cable clamps - this keeps the corrosion from forming, extends the life of your battery, keeps your engine bay clean and makes life easier in the future. usually they're just in a little display at the parts counter or cash register or something, but you could just ask someone if you can't find it. anyway, good luck! and remember, be careful! (p.s. - often if you drive your car to the parts store, they'll do the battery change for you for free because it's so easy. so it's worth askin' about unless you want to do it yourself.)

Q: My 2001 Chevy Venture van having problems starting?
Yesterday I had no problems, but today definitlitly something. When i try to start the van makes a sounds like its trying to start. Then it just starts clicking at me.

A: Your battery is going out have it checked if they say it's okay then the starter is going out.

Q: 2001 chevy venture oil problem?
Up until last night, almost every week we had to check and add a quart of oil (if necessary) to the van to where I had finally changed out the oil. Emptied it out and it was black (normal conditions). Replaced the oil, decided to check the other fluids and behold, I found heavy sludge in the radiator and the resevoir (it was all milky like). I need opinions cause I know in the back of my mind that the head gasket is done but people here are saying otherwise. Any suggestions? Although I dont drive it that much I have to arrange the repairs.

A: It is the gasket or cracked head.
