Q: Should I keep my 2006 Chevy Trailblazer's 4WD is "auto" all the time?
When we bought the vehicle the dealer told us to always keep the 4WD in "Auto" and to only use "4 HI" or "4 LO" when we needed it. Now my front differential needs to be rebuilt because we kept in "Auto" all the time and it is hashed. The guy who is fixing it told me to keep it in 2WD all of the time and use "Auto" only in icy conditions. Of course the original dealer is back tracking now, but what should I be using and why? Thanks to all.
A: 2WD or auto is fine 2wd would probably give better gas mileage
some times things break for no apparent reason.

have 06 trailblazer 4.2L I currently tow a 23' trailer with it and would like to be able to get a lil more out of engine.
anyone with any successful engine tweeks?. have a cold air intake on order. no aftermarket exhaust exsists for the EXT version. Throttlebody spacer is a thought if anyone can say they have had success. Any other thoughts?
A: Buy a computer chip kit. It comes with a scanner to enable the download to an aftermarket selectable program that you can alter to your liking. It also lets you easily re-install the factory program when you go in for warranty work as these can void your warranty. These programs have different selectable ranges to fit your needs for performance and towing. Good luck.
Q: 2006 Chevy Trailblazer Front Wheel/Brake Noise?
Just purchased a 2006 TB (used certified pre-owned). At about 45MPH a squeak noise is hear coming from the front driver side wheel. It is intermitent and really is hear whne making a left turn at higher speeds. Anyone have a possible answer to this. Thanks
A: Check to make sure nothing is hung up in the brake calipers or rotors. Sometimes small pebbles or debris can get caught in there.

with in two weeks crap keeps hapening to are 06 trailblazer we just paid 800 dollars to fix the four wheel drive now it has a bad pulley and the oil light is stayin on even tho it is full and the fuel pump is going bad. should we fix it or should we trade it in for somthing else
it is out of warranty has 50000 on it if we trade it in we need awd or 4wd because we live on a steep hill and have a 2500 pound boat we tow
also what suv would be good under 20000 dollars used with 4x4
A: its out of warranty already? id trade it in for something else. after you fix it it will probably cost somewhere in the range of 2000-3000 dollars for what you just mentioned. its up to you though, my opinion is trade it for something else, I used to own one also and I now have a different car

Q: 2006 Chevy Trailblazer Engine code problem?
First, The onboard display said to check the gas cap. I screwed it and the message stopped. Then a few days later, the check engine light came on. I brought it to my local AutoZone and they said the code (it was either 804 or 809) indicated a problem with my gas cap. I replaced it twice and had the code erased twice and it came on again!! What's the problem???
A: This system is called EVAP Emissions.The governments strict emissions laws made it necessary to test fuel systems for leaks.Your vehicles computer randomly pulls a vacuum on the fuel system and checks for a drop.Randomly meaning it could do a test one minute after you start the engine or may not test for a couple hundred miles.If the computer senses a drop more than it expects to see,it will set a code.There are numberous other codes in this system looking at other possible problems.You need to take the vehicle to a qualified repair shop with the right equipment to check for a leak that is not visible.It may sound funny but this is where the smoke, mirrors, and bright lights come to your aid.

A: Its at the upper right corner of thr engine. Just a connector and 1 bolt. Pretty easy repair.

In all honesty, don't expect much out of it. Today's car market is flooded with used SUV's due to the gas crunch, and TrailBlazers never were known for high resale value, anyway.
If you find that you owe more than it's worth, just ride it out 'til the market comes back up (if it ever does).

Q: My 2006 Trailblazer is Whining!?
I have a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer with the 4.2 Liter Inline 6. About 2 weeks ago it started to whine...progressing to a much louder constant whine now. Constant at idle, then gets louder as you accelerate. I am a car saavy guy, and it is definately an engine noise. To me, it really sounds like an alternator whine, but there are no other symptoms, no idiot lights, and its harging fine. The truck is still running great, just making noise. I see a lot of questions about Trailblazers whining, but everyone is referencing drivetrain issues, and that is definately not the case. Any other ideas?
A: alternator bearings, belt tensioner bearings, those are my guess
Q: How do I fix the exterior temperature display on my Trailblazer?
I have a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer that displays the wrong exterior temperature. It works until it gets up to 71 degrees, if it gets any hotter than that outside it just says 50.
A: You would have to test it, but it sounds like the ambient temp sensor is failed. Could also be the wiring or the cluster/display depending on how yours is set up - I have no idea what year you have so I can't look it up. I know when Chevy clusters go up they tend to take out the speedo though, so I really lean towards the sensor itself.
Q: My 2006 Chevy Trailblazers tranfer case won't shift. Possible causes?
A: it most likely the switch , or the control motor has gone bad .. .. that is if you not really ruff on it and damaged it.
