Q: How do you change the lights in the steering wheel buttons of a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer?
I am losing some of the lights behind the radio control, fan control, etc. Do I have to pull the whole steering wheel apart to replace these lights - and what kind of lights would I even need??
A: The lights are actually little LED's, and are part of the switches themselves. You have to replace the switches in order to have the lights working again. The airbag has to come out in order to access the switches.
Q: I have had my 2003 Chevy Trailblazer for almost three years and owe $10,000. Would it be wise to refinance?
The payments are over $400 and it is hard to keep up on them. Would it be okay to refinance for another 5 year contract?
A: No, especially since you're well over halfway into the contract. Why would you want to add another 5 years just to lower a payment?
You also have to consider that the bank is probably not going to go 5 years on the term. This is already a 6-year old car.
Keep in mind the amount of cash you've already put into the vehicle. If you've been paying on it for 3 years, that's almost $15K you've put into the loan. If you're trying to refinance for 5 more years, add up how much more you'll be paying on a vehicle that will be 11 years old when you're done.
I'd pass on refinancing.
Q: 2003 Chevy Trailblazer with antifreeze smell inside vehicle. No leaks. Recirculate button stops the smell. HELP
Smell is present without heater on but worse with it on. Coolant level is normal. Pressure tests fine. Two garages have checked it and can't find anything. I'm open for suggestions.
A: Replace the overflow cap / which also acts like the radiator cap. The seal could be seaping causing vapors to escape.

Q: Average cost to replace brakes and rotors on a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer?
A: Assuming you are doing this yourself:
Brakes(assuming you meant brake pads) Front pads are anywhere from $24.99 to $52.99/axle. and Rear pads are anywhere from $19.99 to $53.99.(these are sold in pairs so you only buy "two".)
Rotors are anywhere from $64.99 to $245.99/each for front and anywhere from $77.99 to $93.99/each for rear(you will have to buy two each for a total of four)
Now, If you want to have this done at a shop, you can bank on paying atleast 1.5 times the price listed above just for parts and who knows about labor. That is where it gets real tricky. For brake jobs, the mechanic shouldn't charge more that $40-$50/hour. But that can vary dramatically.
Q: 2003 Chevy Trailblazer?
I'm thinking of buying a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer. What do you guys think of the car? Which engine size would be better? 4.2L or 5.0L?
A: The 4.2 shouldn't be that bad on gas. I'm not sure about the 5.0, I think you meant 5.3L which also comes in the Envoy Denali. The 5.3 is a great engine...it has good power and gets good mileage. You just have to drive a little slower so you don't waste as much gas. The 4.2 will get you around just fine, but if you plan to tow, get the 5.3L. Good luck.

Q: 2003 Chevy Trailblazer LTZ?
I want to get a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer LTZ but it has V6 in it and I want a V8 but the 2003 models dont offer a V8 and the newer models that offfer it dont have the rain sensing wipers and climate controls on the steering wheel. Is there another car that has this stuff or could the rain sensing wipers and climate controls on the steering wheel be added to a newer model with a V8
A: Ask your Chevy dealer. They would know. Ordering cars these days is weird compared to back in the day when you could get what you wanted and didnt have to order this to get that. If you dont want to call a dealer, call the local audio shop (Audiotronics) or somewhere that specializes in the installation of aftermarket alarms, etc. They should know whether you are able to add rain-sensing wipers or climate control to the steering wheel. But I will warn you, you can pretty much bet on a no.
Q: What is the maximum oil pressure on a Chevy Trailblazer 2003?
I have a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer and the oil pressure has been in the 60 to 70 psi range. From books I have found that the minimum pressure is 12 psi. But no upper limit has been established.
I don't recall the exact number but I believe the oil pressure when the car was new was in the 40's which is about halfway up the gauge, and where I would believe the standard pressure to be at.
So, another question is - What is the standard operating oil pressure on the Trailblazer?
And finally, what could happen if oil pressure goes up to 80, which is the upper limit in the gauge? Should I even let it go that high or should I bring the car to a mechanic for a check up?
Thanks!
A: There really is no upper limit for oil pressure. The "normal" range at operating temperature for most vehicles is 20-80psi. You car is fine. Just keep the oil & filter changed regularly and don't worry.
Q: 2003 Chevy Trailblazer instrument panel malfunction?
I own a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer which I have been having a problem with since 3 months after I bought it. At first my speedometer would stick and flutter. Unfortunatly it didn't happen consistantly enough where the dealer could diagnosis it. At the begining of this year the gas gauge quit working all together, I took it to the dealer and they stated it was a cluster problem. Over $500 to fix. I am aware that there is a extended waranty being offered to Silverado, Tahoe, Avalanche and Suburban owners on their clusters for this exact problem. Chevy states they have not received enough complaints to include Trailblazer- is anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions on how to best get the word out?
A: i'd go to the dealer or a shop.
Q: 2003 Chevy Trailblazer with Oil in the spark plug Chambers?
I have a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer Inline 6. It has been sputtering and running roughly for a while. I change the oil every 5000 kms. The air filter is clean. So i thought it might be the spark plugs. I removed the spar plugs to find that they were covered in oil as well as the chamber that they are in. I am not sure, but I think that this could be result of a head gasket. If you have any ideas as to how to fix this, i would appreciate it. As well as any other advice on how to fix the rough running engine with the engine light on and flashing. Thank you very much.
A: This is a very common problem. It is NOT the head gasket. You need to change the valve cover gasket and o-rings (if so equipped). You'll need to clean the plug wires or possibly replace them. The leaking oil saturated the wires, causing them to short out; thereby causing the sputtering.
That's all that's wrong with it. Do this and you'll be just fine.
Q: If i trade in my 2003 Chevy Trailblazer for a '00-'03 Chevy Silverado, will my payments go down?
I have had my trailblazer for 11 months now and every payment has been on time. I want a truck though. Will my payments go down with a truck a couple of years older? I want it 4x4 also, does that matter?
A: It all depends on what the dealer will give you in trade in value for your car. Whatever balance you might owe on the car can be rolled into a truck. So you have 2 options. Sell it privately for what you owe. Buy a truck that's cheap enough so what you rollover from the trade makes your payment less....Good luck.
