Q: is it easy to change spark plugs for 2004 chevy tahoe? which brand do u recommend?
my car needs new spark plugs....i was wondering if it was easy b/c my dealership is trying to charge me 150 for it which i know is over priced considering the most expensive spark plugs i can find at kragens r sold for only 7 bucks.
A: It is usually not that expensive to get spark plugs. AC Del Co is the one that I deal with when I actually install spark plugs. As long the ratchet, extension, gap tool, and correct socket, it will probably take less than a hour. Ask the store for the correct gap.
Gap all the sparks right away so that way do not forget about it. Pull the wire off the spark plug. Remove the spark plug. Install the new spark plug initially without the ratchet. You do not want to strip the threads on the heads (costly repair). Use the ratchet to snug them lightly. Put the wire back on. Just keep going to you are all done.
Do not mix up the wires. It is hard sometimes to figure out which goes where.

A: the gmc denali will be better equipped and look alittle nicer then the tahoe.

i have a 2004 2WD Chevy Tahoe. I want to know how do I figure out if my truck has autoride. Also, Im looking into lowering my truck with a McGaughys drop kit and there are two kits. One for a heavy duty shock= 3".......and a light duty shock= 2". How do i know what i have.
A: If you send me the vin number I can run a vis and get the factory build on the Tahoe and tell you what options it has including the autoride suspension.
Q: Can you add the 3rd seat in any 2004 Chevy Tahoe, even if it did not come with one?
A: There are a number of things to consider when doing this.
How much room is there to put a seat (considering width & base length)? Can you gain access to this seat, via the middle row of seats & do the middle row seats fold down or hinge ahead? And probably the most important would concern safety.Where do you put your seatbelts? I really don't think it would be a good idea (price & work involved), however, I don't even think it would be possible. You may want to look at a suburban instead...

A: Well I have a 04 silverado Z71 and mine fold in by using the button on my drivers side so I would assume they would.
If you want to check there should be two buttons one to select which mirror to move and the other one with four arrows to move the mirrors. If you don't select either mirror and have the top button set in the middle you can press and hold the nav button to the left or right and your mirrors should fold in. I discovered this on accident but it seems to be pretty useful.

A: I'd go with the Tahoe. I had a Ford Expedition (Ford makes Lincoln) and I had nothing but problems with it. Plus, the Tahoe rides much better.

A: who knows ! it could run a couple of weeks or it could go out tomorrow. if it goes out then it could throw you off the road or freeze up.

Q: 2004 Chevy Tahoe 5.3L OBD Code P0300 01?
I am wondering what else could be wrong with this truck. I had a bad 02 sensor in bank 2 and I replaced it and cleared the codes but I still have the P0300 01 random engine misfire code.
A: A code P0300 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Faulty spark plugs or wires
Faulty coil (pack)
Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
Faulty fuel injector(s)
Burned exhaust valve
Faulty catalytic converter(s)
Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
Faulty camshaft position sensor
Defective computer
If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.
Random misfires that jump around from one cylinder to another will also set a P0300 code. The underlying cause is often a lean fuel condition, which may be due to a vacuum leak in the intake manifold or unmetered air getting past the airflow sensor, or an EGR valve that is stuck open.

Q: 2004 Chevy Tahoe with Bose speaker.?
I have a '04 Tahoe with the bose speaker system. I want to take out the factory radio And rewire in my own radio and all new speaker wires to new speakers. I know there is a part for adding a aftermarket radio but it is a nightmare popping loud door chimes. Can I rewire a new radio to new speakers and just bypass the whole bose speakers? I know I will lose the door chimes I don't care about that but what else will I lose by doing this?
and by the way i do not have onstar in this vehicle. just the bose speaker system
A: I just purchased an aftermarket radio with the bose system and onstar and they said with either one you can't use any wiring harness besides the one that is made for the bose system. believe me I hooked it up with the cheaper wiring harness and no sound came out so I had to buy the expensive one that has the bose system hook up on it. I dont think there is a way to bypass it because like i said, i hooked up the radio and no sound came out with the regular wiring harness. THere is a bose amp built in to your vehicle that has to be hooked up in order for sound to come out.

my dads Tahoe has a serious problem, sometimes when I take it out for a drive the check engine sign pops out and also the sound for it comes out to ( it goes ding ding ding 3 times ), and when that happens the brakes get loose and my power steering freezes up and I lose engine power and also on my dashboard it says to "REDUCE ENGINE POWER". My dad has paid some guy 350 dollars to get it fixed and it only lasted about six months and then the problem just came up again, so my question is could it just be some computer chips or could it be the engine? cause what from I heard from other people is that the engine looks fine, so if its the chips then I'll just buy a new one instead of getting the old one fixed. or if anyone knows what the problem could be please tell me.

A: Sounds like a computer problem. All these newer vehicles that came out after 99' became fully digital and use computer chips. Unfortunately it will cost more to get it fixed rather than replaced unless you know a good mechanic that does it cheap. Take it to a shop that deals with computer checks and have them do a vital check.
