Q: I have a 1998 chevy tahoe and i noticed a water leak from my muffler what could be the problem?
1998 tahoe 5.7
A: normal condensation--theres a hole in ur muffler put there to drain the water to keep the muffler from rusting out
Q: starting problems 1998 chevy tahoe 2 door 5.7l?
the motor turns and turns especially when cold. and when it starts it will be really rough for a couple of seconds. once i get it on the road it runs like a dream, just start ups cause problems. i will get check engine lights for system too rich and for random/multiple misfires. any help would be greatlly appreciated. thanks alot
A: Your problem is NOT the injectors, what you have is a leaking fuel pressure regulator, the reason your truck doesn't start when cold is because the regulator is bleeding down (not holding pressure when the key is turned off) your fuel system must maintain 60 psi with the key off.
You can verify this in two ways.
1= Hook up a fuel pressure gauge, KEY on ENG off you should have 60 psi,,now watch the gauge and see if it slowly goes down over the next few minutes,
2= remove the throttle body (3 screws) look inside the intake plenum, if you see one side of the lower intake clean and the other side black
(it means the regulator is leaking inside and dumping extra fuel)
it has to be replaced.
Cleaning the injectors will NOT resolve your issue.....

Q: how many abs wheel speed sensors are in a 1998 chevy tahoe 4wd?
im trying to buy an abs speed sensor for my tahoe but i dont know if it needs both which is no prob for me to just replace both, but are there 2 and should i just replace the whole hub on both sides while im at it?
i had all the brakes replaced all around, the breaks work but right before i come to a complete stop, the pedal goes to the floor and the truck kind of shakes and i can sometimes hear like a whirl or something, a mechanic said it could be a wheel speed sensor, im looking on ebay and found some but dont know if i should but both for front or buy brand new hubs with sensors.
A: Before you go throwing parts at the truck, take it to a Chevy dealer, have them plug into the computer and let the truck tell them which one needs replaced.
It could be possible that when your brakes were replaced they didn't clean the area on your hubs where the sensors pick up the signal to activate your ABS.
By not cleaning the sensor area, the computer may be getting a signal that the wheel is locked up and will not apply full brake to that (or those) wheel(s).
Q: tune up specs for a 1998 Chevy Tahoe 5.7 are needed, can anyone help?
timing and firing order...thanks
A: Firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 as for timing, on most stock SB 350s the timing should be fine at 6-8 degree's Before Top Dead Center
Q: ¿Wich kind of OBD uses a MEXICAN CHEVY TAHOE 1998? I have a shell OBD II conn. but displays de OBD I codes.?
A: The kind of OBD I am not familiar with.
Q: 98 Chevy Tahoe shifting?
I have a 1998 chevy tahoe with a 5.7 motor, automatic 4*4 trans. I dont know what's going on with the shifting?, it's got 97,756 miles on all OE parts. nothing reman. or replaced.OK my problem sit's where when i go to put the pedal to the metal and all I get is really really slow acceleration. the motor is maxing out(but not over reving) but the trans is not getting the power to where it should be. for example, today, I was on an interstate, and I go to pass this lollygager on the left lane. so i try to pass the guy (my speed was at about 65/70 mph) and i step on it . what did I get? nothing! so I let go of the gas a little and thats where it picked up (not the acceleration I want)SO !
does any know what this is or do I have to go into more detail.?
what is the problem?
how can i fix it?
A: This sounds like a plugged catalytic converter or fuel system problem not a transmission problem. I have experienced this same kind of complaint several times and it is usually never the transmission.

This transmission is computer controlled and does not use any vacuum lines.
Q: how or where do i get keys to my chevy tahoe doors?
1998 tahoe that i bought and it has keyless entry but no keys for the doors, so when the battery died twice i had to get a locksmith, so where can i either get replacement locks or new keys?
A: you probably should get the door locks changed to fit the same key as the ignition so you'd have to go to the dealer so they can get a code, but if you don't mind having 2 different keys, 1 for the ignition and a different one for the doors then you can just get a locksmith to go make you a key for the doors, i don't know how they do it but they can make a key from just the lock
Q: I need owner advice on purchasing a 98 Chevy Tahoe with 109000 miles for 7500.00?
I am looking at a 1998 Chevy Tahoe, loaded, with 109,000 miles. Asking price is 7350.00. I would like input from others with same vehicle. For maintaince cost, reliablity, etc.
A: As for the maintinance cost and reliablity there not going to be any more then any that is out there the biggist thing is to do the maintinence on it and it will last a long time they are very good vehicles. As for the price that depends on a couple of things like 2w or 4w the 2wheel drive is 7650 in excel shape and 7k in good shape and 6270 in fair shape. Now the 4wheel is 8115 in exc shape and 7505 in good shape and 6680 in fair shape so that is the book price so now you know what to go in there with so you can jew them down.
Q: Buying 1998 Chevy Monte Carlo..Good Deal??
Looking for car with better mileage than my 1998 Chevy Tahoe..(16mpg). Does it sound like a 1998 Chevy Monte Carlo for $3000 would do better? I have no idea. Anyone have one who has an opinion? I drive a lot of highway miles.
Thanks,
Clueless
A: The Monte Carlo isn't going to appreciably improve your mileage over the Tahoe. If you want good mileage you need to move to a sub compact. Big cars need lots of power to move them. The more power required the more gas you'll use.
Q: Will a 2001 Chevy Tahoe tranny fit a 1998 Pontiac Trans Am LS1?
A: 99 up gm truck trans with gen 3 engines use a slightly longer bell-hsg and t- converter which means its a longer trans than the trans-am. Not a compatible swap, plus the shift calibration is different.
Q: How to know if my ABS or Brake Booster is bad?
I have 1998 Chevy Tahoe 4WD. I have changed my callipers, front brake lines, master cylinder, new brake shoes. When I am driving for about 15min .My brake pedal gets so hard that I cant press it and my vehicle gets stuck and won't move at all. I have to wait until the brakes cool down for about and hour and then I am able to move the vehicle again. And it just repeat itself.
When my brake pedal gets hard my truck wont move no matter how hard you press he gas. It just makes a dragging nose and stays in one spot.
A: Wow thats not good, before I read all of the question I was thinking it was your Booster because it is supposed to make pushing the brake easier by using vacuum pressure. But as I read on you mentioned it stuck, Thats not good at all bud. Sounds to me like your pads may be on loose or something of that sort wasn't hooked up right. I'm not an expert but you better get that looked at as soon as you can before something bad happens.
Q: Can a audio system be hooked up with the original factory stereo?
I have a 1998 Chevy Tahoe.
A: yes all you need is a line adapter that has high inputs on one end< 4 sets of wires> and low out on the other end< rca's > then just hook them up along with the back speakers and you have your audio signal.
Q: leaking coolant?
I have coolant leaking from the back part engine of my 1998 chevy Tahoe. The leaking is a pretty steady drop when engine is hot. I am wondering what it may be. I don't think I have blown a head gasscat because the engine stays at the right temp. Heater works just fine also. What will it cost to fix?
A: There is a heater hose connector on top of the intake right behide the alternator. They are bad to leak and even break off. When they leak the coolant can run along the top of the intake and run down the back of the engine. Other than that it could be intake gaskets, which are bad to leak also.
