Q: chevy sub 2004 selecting 2 or 4 wheel drive?
i have a 2004 suburban with a little over 81000 miles. as always the dash indicates i need to service the 4 wheel drive. i am one of those that takes the car to the oil change place and have them do everything, oil, gear boxes, flushing fluids... they told me that they do all of the necessary 4 wheel drive maintenance. so... when my dash indicates i need to service the 4 wheel drive the SUV selects 2 High, 4 High, 4 Low at random.. sometimes i can go to N and get the 2 wheel high back, sometimes i have to turn the car off and restart the engine than it goes back to 2 High. well now the SUV does not have any of the selections lit up. i do not notice a problem driving but i am not able to get the suv to go into 2 HIGH. does anyone know what the hell is going on???

A: Just an FYI,,,when the service 4x4 light comes on the dash it does not mean you need to service it (ie. replace the fluids) what it means is that the system has a fault and it's in need of service (diagnosis). the transfer case control module will store the fault code, even if it's not present at this moment, You stated that there are no lights on the switch right now. The vehicle has to be scanned for codes in the TCCM for proper diagnosis, Common issues (code B2725) is for the 4 wheel drive switch on the dash. (cheap & easy to replace)

Q: Would it ok to purchase a truck with over 100k miles?
I am looking at a Chevy Suburban with 134k miles on it and it is a 2004. I was told this was not unusual as it is in a large metro area with a normal 40mi each way commute to work or somewhere. What do you think?

A: yes, it would be ok. cars can run for 300,000 miles if u treat them right

Q: Are these good choices for a First High School Car?
getting a car in a two weeks and ive narrowed it down to these SUVS. 2004 Infiniti QX4 2005 Toyota 4Runner Limited V6 2006 Chevy Suburban 2005 Toyota Sequoia what do you think insurance will be on these like an estimate. im a 15 year old guy. does the infiniti's horn honk when you lock it the second time?

A: At only 15 you don't have the driving experience to be able to handle a 4x4. Having a 4x4 only means you'll be sliding with ALL FOUR wheels should you lose traction. NOT an easy thing to handle for a beginning driver!!! I strongly suggest you rethink your options to include fuel economy, ease of mechanical repairs and cost of insurance. Insurance on SUVs is a LOT higher than for sedans or coupes. The horn honking when you lock the vehicle for a second time is only to let you know that the alarm is set. Most newer vehicles either honk the horn or flash the headlights or both to let you know you've set the alarm system.
