Q: How does the OLM on my 2002 Chevy Suburban work? By monitoring the oil or by mileage?
A: The PCM determines when the oil needs changing but I couldn't find out exactly how. It will turn on the warning between 3,000 miles and 10,000 miles. The 'Change Oil Soon' light will come on when the PCM detects the oil is dirty and under the normal mileage.

A: The part that the u-joint mounts into is the yoke. Its best to take your VIN to a GM dealer parts department and they can tell which rear differential you have to give you the correct yoke.Price could be $100-250 depending on which rear you have.

Q: 2002 chevy Suburban help ?
i want to add an Amplifier but i don't know which one so i can make my car so louder please any one can you help me how to install it which one i can install sounds good thank you.
A: depends there are different kind i prefer kenwood
Installing car audio amplifiers is one of the trickiest things a newbie car audio installer can attempt. Car amp installation requires that all sorts of panels be removed and that various wires be run all over the car. Installing car audio amplifiers is a step by step process which I have outlined here. If you have any questions please contact me by clicking here. Please do not attempt a car amp installation if you are not comfortable with the process. Leave it to a professional. Now here are the steps on how to install a car amp. There is also a wiring diagram below. NOTE: These directions assume you have already physically mounted your amplifier to a solid, non-conductive surface (non-metal).
1. Determine what side of the vehicle the battery is on. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. If you have a radio with a security feature (such as a Delco-Loc system) make sure you know the reactivation code before disconnecting the negative battery terminal.
2. Find a spot to run the power wire through the firewall. Try to find an empty rubber grommet that hides an unused factory hole. You can just put a hole in this grommet and run your wire through.
3. Car Audio Stepped Bit or Uni-BitIf there is no factory hole you will need to make one. Get out the power drill and steel drill bits. Before drilling make sure you know where the bit will end up once it's through the firewall. I usually make a small pilot hole and then increase the bit size until the hole is big enough for my wire. If you have a stepped bit that would be great to use (see photo). I recommend them highly.
4. Protect the drilled hole edges from rust with paint or a similar material.
5. Car Audio Rubber GrommetsInstall a rubber grommet (see photo) into the hole to protect the wire from chaffing (VERY IMPORTANT!). Caulk the gap between the inner diameter of the rubber grommet and the power wire if necessary to prevent water from running down the wire.
6. Run the wire from the interior of the vehicle, through the hole and to the battery, being very careful to avoid pinch points and moving parts in the engine bay.
7. Car Audio Fuse HolderInstall an in-line fuse holder (see photo) for the power wire as close as possible to the battery terminal connection (the IASCA rule is within 18"). VERY, VERY IMPORTANT!!!!! This fuse protects your vehicle from burning up in case of the power wiring shorting out. The wire between the fuse and the battery terminal will be unprotected, which is why you want this section to be as short as possible. The fuse size depends on the current the power wire will carry. Consult the owner's manual of your amplifier(s) to find out the maximum current draw of your system. You can also contact the manufacturer and ask them for that information. For multiple amplifiers you will need to add up the maximum current draw of each amplifier. Once you know the maximum current draw you'll know what size fuse to use. For example, if your maximum current draw is 50 amps then you'll need a 50 amp fuse. Do not insert the fuse until all other connections are made! Connect the power wire to the battery using appropriate connectors.
8. Pull back the carpet in the area you intend to run the power wire. You will need to remove the rocker panel and kick panel covers to do this.
9. Car Audio Ring TerminalSnake the power wire to it's final termination point (where your amp will be mounted). Be careful to avoid any pinch points such as seat tracks/door jambs, etc. Depending on your application, you can connect the power wire to the amplifier (using appropriate connectors such as ring terminals, see photo) or connect it to a power distribution block.
10. Car Audio Wire LoomAfter you have your power wire run the way you want it, go back and use plastic wire ties to secure the wire in place. You may want to cover the wire in the engine compartment with wire loom also(prior to using wire ties).
11. Now run the RCA cables and remote turn-on lead (typically a blue lead but you will need to check your head unit's manual) from the back of your head unit to your amplifier's mounting location. You will need to follow a process similar to that of the power wire (steps 8 and 9). However, run your RCA cables on the opposite side of vehicle. You do not want to run power wires and signal cables on the same side of the vehicle. This could induce noise into your system. Connect the remote turn-on wire to your amplifier using an appropriate connector (such as a ring terminal). NOTE: The remote turn-on wire is what sends the signal to your amplifier to turn on. It is a very important wire and your amplifier will not work without it. Click Here if you don't have a remote wire or are using a factory head unit.
12. Now run your speaker wires between your amplifier and your speakers. If you need to run wires through the interior of the vehicle, make sure run them on the same
Q: Rear end for 2002 Chevy Suburban Question....HELP!!!!!?
Hello, obviously I am a female and when it comes to auto stuff I dont know too much. So here is my question. My friend came and looked at my truck and said I need a new rear end. My question, what is this part called and what is the least expensive way to go about fixing this? Thank you in advance for all your help
A: It is the big part that makes you back wheels spin, and sorry but this is usually really expensive (not a small part). I would take it to a car garage to have it checked and estimated. Good Luck!
Q: Where is the water tank on a 2002 chevy suburban?
I don't know if it is really the water that is the problem. On the way home from work in traffic my car started acting up.The brake became really hard to push, and the gas pedal was not doing anything.I pulled off the road, turned the engine and air off for 10-15 mins and the car started again so I drove home. All the gauges say the car is normal and there was no alert.I am due for an oil change though this month. It couldn't hurt to put water in it, but does anyone know if that is the actual problem??Plus I think the water tank is on MY left front hand side, and it is a clear container, but when i opened it up the liquid inside had a pinkish tinge which threw me off big time.Idk if that was the coolant or not.Anyways, thanks alot for your help.I am clueless.
Oh and my steering wheel locked up too if that helps
A: sounds like the vehicle died, get the fuel pump checked out, the coolant tank is on the right side of the vehicle(pass side)
Q: Chevy suburban HELP!!!?
OK I am trying to find a way to increase gas milage on my chevy 2002 suburban. A man told me about this thing called a "Hurricane" it was a tubine you put on your air intake filter to help gas milage. Does anyone know about theese or any other way to save gas?
A: there was just an article on it on ABC 20/20 and it doesn't improve mileage. 20/20 did an entire segment on improving mileage. driving habits was the best saver. all of the additives did nothing to improve gas mileage
Q: How do you identify a GM 4L65E from a 4L60E transmission out of a vehicle?
Do anyone know for sure if GM put the 4L65E behind the 5.3L in 2002?(Chevy suburban 1/2ton 2WD) Is there a for sure way to determined this without pulling the transnission? According to my VIN# I have a 4L60E. When I called to price a tranny I am being told that I have the 4L65E. I do know that my transmission pan has a drain plug .
A: They look identical from the outside, but there is a tag on the case that should have a Z in the 3rd digit ,it is the code to tell a 4L65E.
Q: What is the average cost of brake pads and rotors?
I need both of my rear brake pads and rotors replaced. I have a 2002 Chevy Suburban. Can you give a ball park figure how much the parts run. I took it in for an inspection today, my first estimate, including labor was about $420. Is that average or am I getting ripped off?
A: Was quoted $380 for front pads and rotors on my son's '96 Dodge Dakota. Easy enough to do yourself if you can and save about $250. They charge way more for the parts then you can get them for at a parts store and then they heap on the labor.
Q: Has anyone ever heard of a vehicle trying to crank by itself?
Has anyone ever heard of a vehicle trying to crank by itself?
Please help! Two starters have already burned up. The only way I can get it to stop is to pull the relay which has also been replaced. Is my truck possessed?
Please help! Two starters have already burned up. The only way I can get it to stop is to pull the relay which has also been replaced. Is my truck possessed?
My truck is a 2002 Chevy Suburban. It has been in the shop but they cannot figure out the problem. I am at wits end and cannot afford to trade at this time.
A: spooky....supirised the garage couldnt sort it..me,personally i would disconect the starter solinoid wire from the main loom and just fit a simple bush button switch from a live to the solinoid..that way u are by-passing everything
Q: how can i fix a sealt belt that won't pull out from the seat?
The seat belt on the third row seat of my 2002 Chevy Suburban will not pull out from the seat. I have no clue as to where I should even begin to fix this. Any Ideas?
A: I had a Tahoe that done that. They had to tear the seat out and tear it apart. They put in a new retraction assembly. It was done under warranty otherwise it would have been very costly. Check to see if there was ever a recall for that.
