Q: How do you install a hitch on a 2001 Chevy Suburban, and how much does it cost?
A: Uhaul can install an under bumper hitch on your car for about $150. If your suburban has the "towing" bumper already installed on it, then all you will need is the ball, which you can buy from Walmart for $20. Then that fits into the metal fitting in your bumper in front of your license plate. The cost of the hitch installment also depends on which class you will be getting, and this depends on the weight you will be towing. Good Luck!

Q: The thermostat on my rear view mirror won't work. I have a 2001 Chevy suburban. It shows the direction only.?
Hi all, my vehicles rear view mirror won't show the temperature that it is outside. All it says is OC where the temp should be. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix it. My manual says to take it to a dealership but I don't want to take it to my local dealership because I ain't got the money and a new mirror runs about $400. If anyone has any ideas that I can try I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you
A: Its probably the temp sensor for the mirror but I don't know if that is sold separately. Try looking on JC whitney or other car and truck accessory sites for it for much much cheaper than dealer.

Q: 2001 Suburban Rear Passenger Windows do not Operate?
The rear passenger windows on my 2001 Chevy Suburban (50,000 miles - always garaged) do not operate either up or down. They are currently in the up (closed) position, so there is no real hurry to get this fixed, but annoying that they do not work. They do not operate with either the rear door switches or the front, driver switch. The problem was intermitant, but seems to have become permanent for a while now. I suspect that there is a loose connection in the wiring harness in the driver door, but do not know how to remove the switches in order to troubleshoot. Are there any other suggestions? Can anybody describe how to troubleshoot this problem? Thanks.
A: there are a couple of options for you...
...take it to the dealer (duh)
...buy the manual and fix it yourself
my pontiac has the same issue... sometimes the windows work, sometimes they dont. maybe you just need to talk to your car and see what it says, maybe it is depressed and just does not feel like working. who knows, temermental little cars sometimes.
I would say best solution... take it to the dealer. probably wiring of some sort.
Q: I own a 2001 Chevy Surburban 4x4 and am haveing a very loud knocking noise in the motor when motor is cold .?
I would like to know if anyone else who owns a 2001 chevy suburban 4x4 (gas) is now or has ever had problems with the motor haveing a loud knocking in it when the motor is cold or first thing in the morning. This niose is so loud that it sounds just like it where a deisel motor.I have taken to the chevy dealer( more than once)and they keep telling me that it is normal "piston slap".I have my own tramsmission repair shop and have been working on cars for at least 30yrs as a living so I'm not a "car stupid" person.I'm just at the end of my rope on this issue. They (the dealer) is trying to tell me that this normal with this vehichle. For some reason I feel as though I'm haveing smoke blown up places I dare not mention. If you've had any type problems please let me know...Also It keeps going thru parking/running light bulbs and I'm always seeing other Suburbans and Tahoes with one or the other lights burned out..again the dealer says "nope..there has been no problem reported" Strange..huh!!!!
A: piston slap eh, that's a new one. For the record pistons shouldn't slap. obviously you never always had this problem it jsut started. A nice littel old fasion trik that still works is to get a long screw driver. place yoru ear on the handle and hold the tip to differnt parts of teh engine, first the valve covers, then the head, then teh crank case find out exactly where the noise is being produced. Make sure the noise is in fact coming from the engine and not the engine mounts.
any noise coming from within the crank case will obviously require major work.
Q: Taking off the Back in Order to get to the Subwoofer from a Suburban?
i have a 2001 chevy suburban with the bose system, I know it has a 8" sub at the back, i was wondering how to take it off ? also does it have the 4x10 speaker in the back too ? i saw some air holes but its cover by a piece of cloth. Does anyone have detailed instructions on how to take the sub out ?
A: if you have the woofer you have to remove all the side plastic start by the rear door take all the floor trim in the back
remote the litle blak plastic screws they are there to hold the net and the plastic you need a vicse grip and a towel and the move the screws inside the plastic hole the rest is just clips
yes there are 2 4x10 in the roof

the Suburban is a huge dinosaur that needs a redesign.
Q: Chevy Suburban -?
Does anyone know the average mileage/lifespan of a Chevy Suburban? If you need a year, we're eyeballing the 2001's.
A: My father owns a 2001 and damn he travels all over the place with it. He loves being in the road. MY parents are never at home and the burban has 309,425 miles on it he bought it new but the burban has her maintence when it needs it ( like oil changes and fluid flushes ) the only thing he had to change on it was the alternator due to the car audio and video system and the starter dont know why but it still runs like new but a little rough on the gas peddlenot as soft as it was new.
