Q: 2000 Chevy Suburban problems?
I have had this Suburban for about 3 years now, it has 120k miles on it, and everytime I make a stop, it turns off right when I step on the gas. It also does this on turns or even just by shifting the gear from park. I have had this problem for about 2 years now and I have taken it to the auto shop to have it checked and they said nothing is wrong with it and that it is in perfect condition. Does anyone know anything about this problem or have/had this problem?
I have had it tuned up twice a year, tried using the fuel injector cleaner, which they seem to work for a few weeks, but otherwise the suv goes back to shutting off on stops and gear shifts.
A: Based on the information provided, I would guess you are having some type of fuel problem. I would suggest you test the fuel pressure at idle and under load (you'll probably need an assistant for that part.) Fuel pressure testers should be available at any major auto parts store.
Any idea on the maintenance history of the fuel filter? They can become clogged and cause fuel pressure drops, though it is more commonly noticeable in TBI style setups. If the fuel filter has been clogged for any length of time, it can strain the fuel pump and cause it to become "weak" and thus not be able to provide adequate pressures.
It could also be a faulty fuel pressure regulator.
Of course it could possibly be an ignition problem or a sensor problem or a number of other things, but not enough information to continue that type of diagnosis.
No check engine light??
Q: what is the normal idle on a 2000 chevy suburban?
A: I think it's 800 rpm. Not pos. though.
Q: how do i flush my 2000 chevy suburban radiator?
A: Don't Use Chemical Flush ! Just empty it at the petcock. Refill with water & run it for about 10 minutes. Dump again & fill it with 1 gallon of coolant & water.
Q: need a rear end for a 2000 chevy suburban?
found one, but it is from a 2001 tahoe, how do I tell if it will work in vehicle? Both vehicles are 1500 series, but mine is a lLt and has a self leveling system. The tahoe does not specify Lt.
A: www.car-parts.com you can check prices and use it as a cross referance
Q: I have a 2000 chevy suburban, I have replaced 6 batt, alt checks good and i have check fuses.?
A: You may laugh I had a customer and then it happened to me. Battery failure over the weekend or any time it sat for 2 days. Mine was cause by an improper tow harness draining the battery my friends was a bag phone that drew just enough power to drain it. Check for any aftermarket items radio, speakers, dvd, cell phone or GPS. Have them do a load test if it passes then replace the alternator.
Q: 2000 Chevy Suburban rearwindow wiper?
When I turn the rear window wiper fluid on, the wiper works fine, but no water comes out? I check the fluid level, and its fine. The front window wiper fluid works perfectly.
A: Look under the vehicle and see if there is fluid coming out some where when you try the rear. This would mean a punctured washer fluid line. If not its probably pinched or plugged. It runs from the front where it connects into the front hose down the left side frame rail and up to the rear washer and wiper. Should be up through the d pillar on the left rear. hope this helps.
Q: Chevy Suburban 2000, brake pedal travels all the way to floor. Assist or Master Cyl?
A: Master cylinder
Q: how do I change the PCV Valve on a 2000 chevy Suburban?
A: The PCV valve is located on the rear of the left valve cover (driver side). It is connected to the large rubber hose that comes out from under the center of the plastic plenum cover. Just pull it straight out of the valve cover and remove it from the hose. It's that simple!
Q: replacing of 2000 chevy suburban exterior drivers door mirror?
mirror has electric adjustments and exterior vanity light underneath
A: If you have the same mirror to replace it with, then you start with opening the door, then there should be a trianglur cover in the corner, pop off the cover with a flat bladed tool, then you have three ten millimeter nuts to take off,and also a connector to unplug.thats it .
Q: What are the head torque specs on my 2000 Chevy Suburban 5.3L?
A: Best thing to do on this is to get a manual, because trying to explain is gonna be tricky. There are lots of numbered bolts in a specific order and different torque ranges and you are also going to need a special tool called a torque-angle torque wrench GOOD LUCK after you reach the torque you have to turn them another 90 degrees or so
Q: advice on tune up for 2000 Chevy suburban @ 100,000 miles?
A: Put a can of Engine Restore into the crankcase after your next oil change. It works wonders on making the engine perform just like new. Better compression, better mileage. I swear by the stuff and I've got a '94 Ranger with 285,000 miles on it.
Regarding the rest of the engine, put some good quality plugs in as part of the tune-up, replace your timing and serpentine belts, air filter... you know the rest of the drill.
You'll put another 100k on the odometer before you know it.
Q: Headlights and dash boardlights "pluse" on my 2000 Chevy Suburban.?
When driving at night I notice that the headlight make a "pluse" when on. They never flicker or go off. I also can see the battery power gauge move slightly. What might cause that? Alternator? Wiring?
A: the alternator is getting weak on it,,this is what causes this to happen,,i own a repair shop,,and have seen this a few times,it wont hurt anything right now but it may eventually go out on it but ,,it will usually gives a warning before it does and then it may go all the sudden,id have it checked just to be sure,,good luck with it,,i hope this help,s.
Q: i have no heat in my 2000 chevy suburban...?
had shop install new motor into truck last week....(new used motor). now have no heat coming out of vents. will blow slightly warm after running car for while. worked with old motor. how do i see if thermostat is bad? can hear door slide for warm to cold air and car is not overheating. (has been -15 degrees in michigan last week). please help thanks
A: Sounds like a thermostat that is partially opening, since you say you had heat before the engine swap. Also as the other person said, check the antifreeze level and check for leaking hoses bad clamps etc.
Q: 2000 Chevy suburban wont start?
Getting absolutly no power from the battery(fully charged). Jumped my jeep with it it drove fine for about a half hour then once it was parked it stopped working. You can shift without putting your foot on the brake or keys in the ignition. also car doesnt go into park.
absolutly nothing is working, no break lights or interior lights, putting the car in Acc makes no difference also the wire running from the alternater to the fuse box is getting voltage from the battery and the battery is at a full charge. I have tested all the fuses and not one is blown, the conections to th battery, alternater, fuse box, and wires from the fuses to the car are all good connections.
A: First step is to take THE KEY OUT OF YOUR A5S! and you have mono
Q: i own a 2000 chevy suburban 111000mi. today this car left me stranded. while i was driving it just lost power.
it would sound like it wanted to turn on but nothing. i had it towed to a mechanic but they can't find the problem. in the past it did this but it would start in 1-2 hrs. sometimes it feels like it's losing power while i drive. it can't be the engine i had a used engine put in 3 yrs ago. the starter is working. i have no idea what it could be. this car should be running great i'm upto date with all maintence. any info would be greatly appreciated.
A: GM has a lot of problems with the fuel pump. Your truck needs 50 PSI to start and will not run much below that. these pumps often quit when they get hot and start working again after they cool off. When I was a Mechanic at a GMC dealer it happened so much we would just replace the pump even though the truck started for us. We rarely had a vehicle come back when this didn't fix the problem.
