Q: 1993 Chevy Suburban feels like it might stall?
I have a 1993 Suburban with a 5.7L, 350, 4x4, 147,000 miles. Oil changed every 3,000 miles. Very well maintained. Lately it feels like it might stall or hesitate when I barely depress the gas pedal, no matter what speed I'm traveling. What could the problem(s) be?
A: change the fuel filter, it may be clogged and the engine is starving for fuel at anything but an idle. fuel pump could be failing, those are about all that it could be, pull the fuel filter off and try to blow through it with you mouth, it should flow easily, if it's clogged you'll know, take a rag and wipe the gas off the fittings first, gas doesn't taste good. the fuel filter is in-line and should be if memory serves me along the inside of the left frame rail somewhere, follow the fuel line you'll find it.
Q: How much horse does a stock 1993 Chevy Suburban 4X4 with a 350 vortec put out?
I would usually know but have never had a vortec before. Please tell me.
It's a k1500
I copuld have sworn that the faceplate said 5.7l vortec
Yeah somebody got it from a 1999 Chevy suburban 1500.
A: The Vortec V8 was not available till '96. Prior to '96, the motors were TBI (throttle body injected).
The early Vortec motor is rated at 255 Hp.
The TBI is rated at ~ 215 Hp.
Q: how do u adjust the drive bands in a 1993 chevy 4X4 suburban?
i can do it just not sure how its done
A: Drive bands are adjusted by different size drive pins in the servo actuator, sometimes the old pin is mashed on the end and you just need a new one of the same size but really if your pin is not mashed then the band most likely needs to be replaced as part of an overhaul
Q: chevy suburban new rear axle?
i saw a truck on craigslist that says it needs a new rear axle and i was wondering what exactly this means. he said the part is about $600. do i have to get it towed to get it fixed im assuming? how much is installation for this part roughly? its a 1993 chevy suburban 1500 4x4
well he said a new rear end so im assuming that its the whole axle. the only reason im considering it is becuase im getting the truck for a lot less because of it. can the truck still start without it so i can see if it runs?
A: never buy any car or truck if you need to work on it alot smarter and since youre asking about axle you dont know hgow to replace it so better to look more axle not hard to repalce and yes cant drive it with out one and cal a aprts store axle dont cost that much unless we talking whole unit and someone replcaing like at a shop replacing whole unit really not much harder to do at home
Q: Power steering ford to Chevy?
how to make Ford 4x4 Pickup1976 steering gear work with 1993 Chevy suburban power steering pump? All connections have been properly made but pump acts like it needs to put out more pressure. Is this true? It makes squealing noises and has no power steering or steering at all
lets see if I can explain it better, you can hear the pump working but it does make like squeal sound , not a belt noise. the steering gear is new, we put Ford straight axle under Chevy. I had some power steering then hubby replaced the gear box thinking that would solve it but the steering is worse now, can't turn, can't drive.. Thanks for all the answers If we find the problem out I'll let you all know,,
A: I have put chevy motors in fords before and in my experience, the power steering pumps are the same but have different mounting brackets and hose fittings. I would guess that maybe the hoses are backwards or the pump is worn out
Q: The real seal on my transfer case is leaking. How do you repair it?
1993 Chevy Suburban C2500 454
A: Lift the rear of the vehicle & support on Jack stands. Remove the rear u-joint caps. Pull the drive shaft out of the transfer case. Remove the old seal. Tap a new seal into place. Place a light sheen of oil on the yoke & shove it back in. Bolt up the rear u-joint.

Q: What is the correct tire pressure?
What should the tire pressure be on my 1993 Chevy Suburban? It's a 4x4, 1500, 350 5.7L, the tires are 245/75R16, there is no sticker on the driver's side door panel or anywhere and the owner's manual gives no info. The only info on the tires is Max. pressure of 80 lbs.
A: Actually the correct tire size is LT245/75R16 120/116R Load Range E. This is important because if your tires were sized P245/75R16 109S you would have a serious problem.
Correct inflation pressure for an E Load Range tire on this model year is 45 psi front, 80 psi rear.
***EDIT***
Typical YA. I work with tires every day and I get a thumbs down for posting the only varifiable, technically correct answer to the question.
Q: why is this SUV so cheap??????
1993 Chevy Suburban $1500
From a used car dealer.
Are there well known problems with this model? What should I look out for?
A: Well, it is15 years old and probably only gets 8-12 mpg.
Q: Need opinions! What should I do?
Which sounds like the better choice?
1993 Chevy Suburban 4x4 5.7L 127,000miles $6,200 (price includes taxes, tags & 3yr./48,000mi. warranty)
1995 Chevy Suburban 4x4 5.7L 104,000miles $7,999 (price does not include taxes & tags) 6mo./6,500mi warranty
A: I'd go for the first one. Yes, the mileage is a lot but the price is right and the warranty is going to take care of that car for a while. Also with a older car, your insurance goes down and $6,200 is really a good price.
Q: Ignition Removal?
1993 Chevy Suburban 1500. I don't have the ignition key. How do I remove it? Please don't say drill it :)
Seriously, how do I replace it?
JW, I was reading what you said and I was thinking... what an idiot.. then I looked who it was LOL. that was funny.
A: Take the plastic cover, (2 piece) off the steering column. Use a awl or a small screwdriver to push the release on the tumbler. While pushed in all the way, pull tumbler out.
Q: How come a Dodge ram 1500 with a 5.7L Hemi get beat by a...?
1993 Chevy Suburban 1500 Silverado with a 350 small block 5.7L.
My friend owns the Dodge I am the Suburban.
She wants to know why my SUV beat her truck.
I already know why but just tell her I need many people to make her believe me.
The Ram is 5000lbs and the suburban is 7000lbs.
Think about it, man.
No midsize truck is going to weight more then a fully loaded suburban.
God you are an idiot.
A: you either made that up or she doesnt know how to drive
Q: 4L60E Tranny for 93 Suburban?
I have a 1993 Chevy Surburban 4x4 silverado model, it has a 4L60E, i got a 4l60e Tranny from the junkyard, it had 12 pins but it had a different transfer case and had a different letter on the tranny, my tranny has a K on it. I called another junkyard and they said they had the same tranny but it was coming out of a S10 and the gear ratio was different,? My Question will it work on my truck so long as its a 4l60e and if not what other 4l60e can i use? if there is such a thing as different weight classes for the tranny.
A: You do not need one out of an S10 to go in your Suburban, you need the same that came out of your vehicle.
